Letter Of Invitation
2012 will mark the 86th Anniversary of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Our organization takes great pride in our band program, which for decades has been a creative cornerstone of what has become America's most famous parade. Macy's Parade is legendary for its rigid standards and its highly competitive selection process. Our traditions are deeply rooted, especially in the area of regional diversity, but for our 80th parade anniversary, we broke the mold and took the idea of regional representation to a whole new level.
Under the leadership of the distinguished Dr. Richard Good of Auburn University and assisted by the very gifted Mr. Barry Houser of the University of Illinois, and with the partnership of MUSIC FESTIVALS, seven years ago we created a whole new kind of ensemble - an exciting Great American Marching Band showcasing the most talented high school student musicians from every state of the union. On behalf of Richard, Barry, the MUSIC FESTIVALS staff, and everyone from Macy's Band Committee, I invite you to participate in this seventh annual "national band" that will represent the best high school students America has to offer in the 2012 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Sincerely,
Amy Kule
