Here are some comments from the members and their families of The Macy's Great American Marching Band as they reflect on their experiences over the years. As they are submitted we will add them as we reflect back on this wonderful experience over the years. We have not included full names for security reasons.

First, I wanted to say “THANK YOU” for the incredible opportunity you
have created for the musicians with the Macy’s Great American Marching
Band. We picked up our son last night and it has clearly been a “life changing experience” for my son. As
founder and chairman emeritus of Music for All, I know a little bit
about these life changing experiences can can tell you this was really
first class all the way.
We attended the
Wednesday rehearsal and I was impressed by your staff, the organization,
and the performance level of the students. It is amazing how it all
comes together in such a short time. This is no small feat and that is
a tribute not only to the students but to the staff and your
organization. So again… Thank you! Hopefully
Andrew will be with you again next year (he is a sophomore this year)

I
just wanted to drop you a quick note expressing what an amazing
experience the Macy's Great American Marching Band was for our
daughter and our entire family! We had high expectations and
you met and exceeded those at every juncture.
From the time of
our initial communication with you about her acceptance into the
band, through the many months of correspondence and preparation, through
the excitement of arriving in New York and the week of rehearsals and
team-building, through the parade and wonderful banquet-- it was an
incredible experience thanks to the organization, communication,
quality and professionalism of your entire team. Your letters and emails
were complete and timely with valuable information for a family that
was experiencing this opportunity for the first time. I can't convey how
helpful that was as we prepared Brenna and our family for the
adventure.
She quickly connected with her roommates (I'm
certain she has developed some new life-long friends), thoroughly
enjoyed the exceptionally high musical abilities of the other students,
was challenged and learned so much through the rehearsals, had a great
time site-seeing and team-building all week, and just had an overall
tremendous experience marching and being a member of the MGAMB. I can't
put into words what it means for her and us to now have these great
life-long memories of her time with the band and the joy and pride we as
parents had in seeing our daughter as part of this amazing team.
As
parents, we thank you for not only caring for the safety and well-being
of our daughter-- for example, your chaperone's were exactly where they
promised to be as she arrived in New York, perhaps the most nervous
part of the endeavor for us-- but also for nurturing and encouraging her
by giving her a world-class experience with the finest musicians and
leaders. Your entire team from the organizers to the directors to the
chaperones is to be highly commended!
The quality of your
organization and the end product and pride of the unified band/team
performing marvelously on the route and in Herald Square is just simply
phenominal! You have a tremendous team and run a first class program-- I
say that with fullest sincerity having been a fortunate benefactor of
the experience. You've given her and us a wonderful gift and provided
us an experience we'll remember and fondly recall for the rest of our
lives.
