Doug
Rosener received his Bachelors degree in
Music Education from Penn State University,
his Masters in Percussion Performance from
the University of North Texas, and his
Doctorate in Percussion Performance from the
University of Colorado in Boulder. He has
performed with many professional orchestras
including the Altoona Symphony, the Boulder
Philharmonic, the Sinfonia of Colorado, the
Colorado Ballet Company Orchestra, The
Colorado Springs Symphony, and the Colorado
Music Festival Orchestra. While at North
Texas he performed with such artists as
Trilok Gurtu, Airto, and Chad Wackerman.
Dr. Rosener has recorded CDs with the North
Texas Wind Symphony, North Texas Chamber
Players, the Colorado Vocal Jazz Ensemble,
and has been a regular drummer with several
professional musical theater companies. He
was also a member of the Cavaliers Drum and
Bugle Corps in 1987, 1988, and 1990.Dr. Rosener’s previous appointments include Director of Percussion Studies at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and as Interim Director of Percussion Studies at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. He has also served as battery caption head of the Blue Knights WGI percussion ensemble from Denver, Colorado, winning three world championships and three second place finishes in six years. Several of Dr. Rosener’s percussion ensemble compositions and arrangements have been published through Drop6 Publications, and he continues to remain active as a percussion composer/arranger, clinician, and judge for High Schools and Universities throughout the United States. Dr. Rosener is an Artist/Clinician for Vic Firth and Sabian.
