A Stage
Performance 101 workshop with Gammy & CMA award winning
singer/songwriter, Linda Davis to be scheduled in November
2008.
A consummate entertainer, inspirational
motivator, and devoted wife and mother are just a few ways
to describe Grammy & CMA award winning singer/songwriter
Linda Davis. She has built a reputation as a world-class
entertainer and is considered one of the best female
vocalists in the business by some of her most well known
peers. Labeled a 'song stylist', Davis' unique ability to
interpret a song soon made her one of the most sought after
session singers in Nashville. Reba McEntire loved Davis'
music so much that she invited her to become a featured
entertainer on tour with her. Their mutual respect led them
into the studio together where they recorded a duet entitled
Does He Love You that went on to become a #1 hit and earn
both artists several awards including a Grammy for Best
Country Vocal Collaboration. She was later recruited as one
of the first artists signed to Dreamworks Records. It was
there that she appeared on the soundtrack for the motion
picture Black Dog starring Patrick Swayze. She also
partnered with another superstar, Randy Travis, to record
the song Make It Through, which was included in the
gold-selling companion CD for the award winning movie Prince
of Egypt. Through the years, Davis has played to sold-out
crowds with the likes of Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba
McEntire and Kenny Rogers just to name a few.
STAGE PERFORMANCE 101
Grammy award winning recording artist Linda Davis has
launched a consulting firm designed to offer guidance to
other performers. Called Stage/Performance 101,
the new company will allow Davis, who has more than 20 years
of experience in the music business, to direct and advise
other entertainers.
According to Davis, Stage/Performance 101 is not in
the business of vocal coaching, nor is it a choreography
company. With her years of experience on stage, Davis has
an eye for laying out the overall well-rounded techniques
that set a professional apart from an aspiring artist, and
in helping an artist find their comfort zone on a stage.
Whether a client is preparing for a pageant and her needs
are for a one-song event, or an artist is developing a
45-minute set with a band, Davis can assess the need as well
as the abilities of the client and set them on their way to
a successful performance.
My objective is to allow the artist/client to be an
individual, to always be themselves, not say what I would
say or move across the stage like I would move across the
stage, she explained.
Sometimes we just need to see new ideas in action and
then we can make them our own. The repetition of our work
together (homework/rehearsal at home in front of the
mirror) is the key to each client having a boost in
confidence once they walk on stage at their event and know
that their show will better for having made the effort with
S/P 101.
